Climate change is not for sissies
Gepostet von Kwa-Ngubeni Primary School, South Africa am 15. Oktober 2019

Todays climate change lesson enlightened us all as to the causes, solutions and impacts that a changing climate will bring to our communities, our biodiversity and our planet. Previously we had finished the secret water challenge looking at how different food requires different amounts of water to produce; to follow on with this lesson thread we learnt that not only is meat and dairy a big water consumer but also the industry is a big greenhouse gas producer. Green House gasses in our atmosphere we learned are like windows of a car or a greenhouse, they allow light in but trap some of the radiation from dissipating effectively causing the planet to become warmer. If we don’t stop the release of GHS, the world will be a very different place to live. Storms will become fiercer; droughts more persistent and food supply will decline. We can take action to deduce our footprint by simply actions like carpooling as seen by an exercise to compare our carbon footprint of a private vehicle verse a taxi. It was a really thought-provoking activity.
