We had an incredible afternoon on Friday with all of the Year 5 and 6 students filling the hall. 

First we had a quick drama presentation of why it takes 1,700 litres of water to produce a tee-shirt. We acted out growing and watering the cotton, processing the fibres, weaving the fabric, washing and dying the fabric and then distributing the finished garments. We discussed economic cost verses environmental cost. 

We then held the Corbridge Middle School Water Explorers Fashion Show and Swap Shop! All the clothes were either recycled or upcycled. 

First up we had our Summer Collection where the models walked down the catwalk in bright and colourful clothes. 

Next was the American Collection including a Disney original Mickey and Minnie sweater.

Then the models used scarfs as sarongs for an Indian Collection which are cool and easy to wear.

This was followed by a Street Style Collection - comfy fasionable clothes that can be dressed up or down. 

The Bed Time outfits came next - where scruffy favourite tee-shirt to night-time wear.

The Grand Finale - "clothes can be whatever you want them to be. Anyone can wear skirts or use waste to make something different" - we had examples of that had been made using fabric  remenants and crisp packets!

Then all the clothes, and many more besides, were swapped by the pupils for something different. Over 100 items of clothing found a new home. We just had one item of clothing left at the end, which was delivered to a second-hand shop.
